Type of gearboxes

Industrial gearboxes are core power transmission components widely used to reduce speed and increase torque for machinery and equipment. Multiple types are available for different working conditions. Below are the most common gearbox categories:

1. Helical Gearbox

Helical gearboxes are the most widely used type. Their helical teeth engage smoothly, creating low noise and vibration. They are robust for continuous heavy-load operation. Typical applications include conveyors, mixers, pumps and general production lines. Our R, S, K, F series falls into the heavy-duty helical gearbox category, designed as a direct drop-in replacement for SEW-EURODRIVE helical gear reducers.

2. Bevel Helical Gearbox

Bevel helical gearboxes combine bevel gears and helical gears. They change the power transmission direction (90° power turn). They are commonly used when the motor and driven equipment need to be arranged perpendicularly, such as elevators, mining equipment and bucket elevators. Our K series Bevel helical gear units belong to such category.

3. Worm Gearbox

Worm gearboxes use worm and worm wheel pairs. They can achieve large reduction ratios in a compact size. The main advantage is self-locking capability in some models. However, efficiency is relatively lower. Suitable for light & medium duty machines, gates and small lifting devices. We have two type such gearbox, one is Cast Iron helical worm gearbox, another is light duty Aluminum/Cast iron worm gearbox NMRV series.

4. Planetary Gearbox

Planetary gearboxes feature a compact structure, high power density and high precision. Multiple planet gears share the load. They are popular in servo systems, automation equipment, robotics and precision machinery. We have two types planetary gear reducer for choice, one is big heavy duty P series (High strength Cast iron) , another is compact high precision planetary gearbox (Aluminum housing).

5. Cycloidal Gearbox

Cycloidal gearboxes are also the most popular and widely used gearbox for its standard ratio and cheap cost in stock. it adopts cycloid pinwheel transmission. Strong overload resistance and compact size. Often used for agitators, conveyor, water treatment project and equipment that needs shock load resistance.

6. Spiral bevel gear commutators (right-angle drives) change power direction by 90° via precision spiral bevel gears. High efficiency, low noise and multi-direction mounting options.

There is usually with ratio 1:1,1:2, 1:3, 1:4, and 1:5 only. Can be one input shaft with one or double shaft output type, solid or hollow shaft or even with flange. There is T series, HD Series and ARA series for choice.
